Victoria Beckham is glad she had to “prove” herself.

The singer-turned-designer was delighted to see a number of famous names, including Demi Moore and Cameron Diaz, wearing her dresses at pre- and post-Oscar parties earlier this month and thinks she has finally been accepted by the fashion world.

She said, “I have had to prove myself. But that’s a good thing: everybody has to prove themselves, not just me… I want to grow as a designer, I want to learn the techniques and do more and more.

“I feel more confident in myself because I feel fulfilled, creatively and professionally. I’ve still got a long way to go, but I feel very happy. I’m in a good place in my life. And I don’t feel I have to prove myself as much as I used to have to.”

Victoria, who has been widely criticized for her slender frame, is particularly happy that her creations have been endorsed by so many stars of different physiques.

She added, “The support has been fantastic. And it’s been great that it’s been on lots of different body shapes as well. There have been tiny people wearing the dresses, such as Madonna, and then Jennifer Hudson wore one at the Golden Globes. The way the dresses have been constructed means that they are really flattering.”

The former Spice Girl’s husband, soccer star David Beckham, decided to “take the p**s” and change the settings on her handset so the 90s pop anthem blasts out every time she receives a call.

She told Love magazine, “It was David who set my phone up to play Right Said Fred. Honestly – he’s trying to take the p**s and I can’t change it because I’m rubbish with phones.”

Instead, the singer-turned-fashion designer is left shame-faced when her phone goes off in a public place.

She explained, “I’ll be at the gym and suddenly I’ve got Right Said Fred playing and I’m mortified.”

The 35-year-old star – who has sons Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, seven, and four-year-old Cruz with David – also revealed although the couple are very happy together they don’t always share the same passions.

While she spends her days discussing her love for fashion and clothes, the 34-year-old sportsman tries to stick to much more masculine topics of conversation.

She explained, “I’m just happy to have someone who wants to talk to me about fashion. Normally, David’s like, ‘Stop it, I don’t want to talk about clothes anymore! I want to talk about motorbikes and tattoos.’ ”

The former Spice Girl-turned-fashion designer is a regular visitor to the schools of her three sons, Brooklyn, ten, Romeo, seven, and four-year-old Cruz, and enjoys helping out whenever she can.

Victoria, who lives in Los Angeles with her soccer star husband David and the three boys said, “I travel a fair amount, and when I’m here in Los Angeles, everything revolves around the kids. So if I’m not working, I go to the school and help serve lunches to the children.

“They just love that. It’s like, Oh, there’s mummy serving me!’ The other day I was there, I was reading to Cruz’s class. All the little girls were saying, ‘We really like your dress.’ And it was quite cute because I don’t have a girl.”

As well as being a devoted wife and mother, the 35-year-old brunette says fashion plays a huge part in her life and she knows how to make the best of herself.

She said in an interview with America’s Glamour magazine, “I love fashion, and that’s how I express myself. I think about what I’m going to wear before I go to bed at night.

“When I dress in a certain way and do my hair and make-up in a certain way, it’s not to get attention. I’m not a supermodel. I make the best of what I’ve got. I work out to look the best that I can, but I’m no Gisele.”

Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham has been invited by Whoopi Goldberg to appear on ‘The View’ to talk about her latest fragrance Signature Story, but the host had forgotten she was allergic to perfume.

So now Victoria has agreed not to spray the scent within a nine-metre radius of Whoopi, while the audience members – who will get a goody bag containing a bottle of the fragrance – will have to sign an agreement not to open the fragrance in the studio.

A source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: “Whoopi was desperate to get Victoria on ‘The View’ as she’s got an incredible profile in the US right now. Victoria is launching her perfume so the timing was perfect and she agreed straight away.

“Sadly, Whoopi didn’t really think things through – and it was only once her guest was confirmed that she informed producers she was allergic to perfume. If she smells it, her eyes well up and start streaming, and her lips even swell.

“Studio bosses have had to write up contracts for the audience and Victoria making sure they don’t spray the scent. It’s not the ideal way to promote a perfume, but Victoria saw the funny side.”

Meanwhile, Victoria – who is married to soccer star David Beckham – has revealed she will make the couple’s three children work and won’t allow them to live off their parents’ vast fortune.

The 35-year-old star –mother of Brooklyn, 10, Romeo, seven, and four-year-old Cruz – said: “They b***dy well will work… Same as myself, same as David.

“They’re not going to be the kind of kids that just hang about. I want them to be able to fulfil their passions, but I think it’s important that the children grow up and have respect for themselves.”
